In a monumental step toward strengthening educational opportunities in River Gee County, the Sarbo Unity Foundation has officially donated the Sarbo Development Center project to the Liberian government. This handover reflects the Foundation’s commitment to expanding access to technical and vocational education, aligning with the government’s shared vision for regional development.
At the donation ceremony in Monrovia, the Foundation, led by Dr. Jewlee Weah Tweh, expressed pride in this landmark achievement. Speaking on behalf of Dr. Tweh, Franklin W. Tuweh, the Program Director, highlighted that this contribution fills a crucial gap in vocational education for River Gee County, where access to technical training has historically been scarce. The institution, now in the hands of the government, is set to empower local youth with essential job skills, bridging educational disparities and driving economic growth in the community.
Dr. Tweh’s lifelong mission has been to uplift his home community by providing resources for education, scholarship opportunities, and sustainable skills training. The handover of the Center to the Liberian government marks the fulfillment of this mission, allowing students in Sarbo to gain quality vocational education without needing to relocate to urban areas.
Representative Francis Saidy Dopoh, who received the facility on behalf of the government, expressed gratitude for the Foundation’s impactful work and emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating the Center into Liberia’s educational network. Formerly titled as the Sarbo Development Center, now the vocational school operates as the River Gee Vocational and Technical Training Institute, the school will provide hands-on training and job-focused education, bolstering economic resilience for River Gee County. At the Sarbo Unity Foundation, we affectionately refer to it as the Dr. Jewlee Weah Tweh Center for Vocational and Technical Traning.
