As 2019 draws to a close, the Sarbo Unity Foundation is proud to report that the Sarbo Development Center in Sweaken, River Gee County, Liberia, is nearing completion. Since the groundbreaking earlier this year, every stage of construction has brought new hope to the Sarbo community and surrounding areas. The Center, which will serve as a hub for education, vocational training, and community development, is set to open its doors in the coming months.
Achievements in Construction
By November, major components of the Center, including the high school building, and vocational training center, are in advanced stages. Each structure has been designed to meet the needs of a growing community, ensuring that the Sarbo Development Center can provide accessible, high-quality resources for local students and residents.
Local builders and volunteers from Sweaken and neighboring communities have worked tirelessly alongside contractors, handling the hard labor, managing supplies, and helping overcome logistical challenges. Their commitment reflects the deep pride that the Sarbo community feels in this transformative project.
Making a Difference through Community Involvement
The Sarbo Unity Foundation has been dedicated not only to building infrastructure but to fostering community ownership. Our “Give One Dollar” campaign, which encourages people worldwide to donate just a single dollar, has made it possible for anyone to contribute to this ambitious initiative. Thanks to supporters near and far, funds have been steadily raised to cover building materials, labor costs, and necessary equipment.
This November, the Foundation extends special gratitude to all contributors whose generosity has enabled the Center to reach this advanced stage. From the Sarbo Tribe elders to local volunteers and international donors, each contribution has helped shape the future of this community-focused Center.
Preparing for Opening Day
With only final touches left, we are now preparing for the official opening, anticipated in early 2020. The Center will offer much-needed high school education for local youth and provide vocational training in skills like agriculture, carpentry, and tailoring, which will support the community’s economic growth and self-sufficiency.
As the Sarbo Development Center prepares to open, the Sarbo Unity Foundation looks forward to a new chapter in its mission to empower the Sarbo Tribe and surrounding communities through education and skills training. This Center stands as a testament to the power of collective effort and the impact that thoughtful, community-driven development can have on future generations.
The Sarbo Unity Foundation invites all supporters to join in celebrating this achievement and looks forward to continued partnership in making River Gee County a brighter, stronger community. For those interested in supporting this milestone, contributions are still welcome, and details can be found on the Foundation’s website.
Together, we are building a legacy of opportunity, growth, and resilience in Liberia.
