As of April 30, 2019, the Sarbo Unity Foundation has made significant strides in the construction of the Sarbo Development Center in Sweaken, Sarbo District, River Gee County, Liberia. This ambitious project aims to transform access to education and vocational training for the community, addressing challenges posed by a lack of local educational infrastructure.
The Sarbo Development Center, spanning 16 acres generously donated by Sarbo Tribal Elders, is set to include a range of essential facilities. Plans detail a six-building campus featuring a high school, vocational training center, library and resource center, multipurpose hall, kitchen and dining hall, administrative offices, generator house, staff housing, restroom facilities, and a water tower. These facilities are designed to support programs in education, vocational training, adult literacy, health, and agriculture, all of which will foster growth, self-sufficiency, and empowerment within the community.
Photographs shared on our Facebook page capture the initial groundwork and foundation setting, reflecting the community’s united effort and enthusiasm for the project.
